Tamara Coast to Coast Way - a new long distance footpath along the Cornish and Devon border

The Tamara Coast to Coast Way is a new way to discover the secret delights of the interior of Cornwall on an 87 mile journey.

July 2023 saw the introduction of a new long distance footpath in the south west of England.

The Tamara Coast to Coast Way runs from Morwenstow, on the north coast of Cornwall, to the Devon city of Plymouth - or vice versa, of course. It broadly follows the route of the mighty Tamar River, which traditionally marks the boundary between Cornwall and Devon.

The route was created with the aim of encouraging people to explore the inland areas of Cornwall, which are often overlooked by tourists.

The route passes the source of the River Tamar at its beginning and then meanders through some of the most stunning countryside and picturesque panoramas in the country including the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site (Unesco) – as well as centuries-old churches, quaint cottages and traditional inns.

As the route connects with the South West Coast Path at both ends, enthusiastic walkers can now hike the entire border of Cornwall!
